President Ma Ying-jeou yesterday announced Premier Wu Dun-yi as his running
mate for next January's presidential election.

Describing Wu as a trusted premier ... Ma said he consulted a number of
people on a possible running mate before choosing the premier.

Ma added that Wu has demonstrated exceptional leadership and administrative
capabilities that have helped improve government efficiency and the private
sector's competitiveness.

Wu will not step down as premier immediately, but -- according to Ma -- he
will consider such a move when it becomes necessary.

Meanwhile ...
The D-P-P's presidential candidate - Cai Ying-wen - is not revealing who she
plans to pick as her 2012 running mate.

Cai says she is in no hurry to choose a running mate, and the party will make
a public announcement when a decision is made.

There is continuing widespread speculation that D-P-P Secretary-General - Su
Jia-chuan - and former Premier Su Zhen-chang - are the two most favored
options.

However ... neither have stated their intentions to run.

Cai is slamming Premier Wu Dun-yi's decision not to leave office following
his nomination as the KMT's vice presidential candidate ... saying his
failure to do so will result in the Ma administration losing its neutrality.

Premier Wu Dun-yi is defending his decision to remain in office ... despite
his being chosen as President Ma Ying-jeou's 2012 running mate.

According to Wu, he will not use government administrative resources for the
the K-M-T's presidential campaign[kæmˋpen].

The statement follows widespread criticism from the D-P-P of Wu's decision
not to step down.

Wu said the law does not forbid government officials from taking part in an
election while still holding their government positions .., and his candidacy
will not interfere with his current government position.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it will continue to protest the World
Health Organization's addressing Taiwan as a"province of China."

The statement came two days after 20 European Parliamentarians issued a
letter of protest to the W-H-O -- in which they said the international body
risks its credibility and impartiality by referring to Taiwan as part of China.

Health Minister - Qiu Wen-da - filed an official letter of protest while
attending the World Health Assembly in May.

However .. the neither the W-H-O nor the W-H-A has responded.
Ministry officials say the government has no plans to let the matter be
settled this way ... and is continuing to follow up on the issue.

Q. What's causing the error "Could not initialize SDL - exiting" from
qemu? I have SDL installed.

A. You need to run qemu in a Windowed environment like GNOME or KDE.
Not through ssh.

dhcp issue

dhclient eth0  --> issue dhcp discover
dhclient -r eth0 --> issue dhcp release
somehow testvm-1 can issue dhcp release and release ip addr successfully,
but in testvm-5 can't issue dhcp release to dhcp server.

sol:

The dhclient '-r' release lease option seems to work only
if the dhclient process that got the lease being released
is not running, or is run outside of the /sbin/ifup network
scripts - ie. doing:
  # ifdown eth0
  # ifconfig eth0 up
  # dhclient eth0
  # dhclient -r eth0
works fine for me.
But if you do:
  # ifup eth0
  # dhclient -r eth0
This will not work; the dhclient process started by 'ifup' is
still around because the 'dhclient -r' process cannot find its
pid file, which is /var/run/dhclient-eth0.pid, and will
reacquire the lease when it expires.
You can get around this by doing:
  # dhclient -pf /var/run/dhclient-eth0.pid -r
but this is a pain.
Q2.
After dhcpd restart, dhcpd didn't test whether the entry(ip+mac) reside in dhcpd.leases which is not released yet is alive.
